The real live video game quality of flying infrared controlled helicopters can’t be beat, and this added dimension made this toy a Time Magazine toy of the year for 2007. In my experience, these helicopters take a lot of work to get flying properly; work that probably involves losing a tail rotor or top rotor (or several), so buy extra or you’ll six minutes of fun, interrupted by ten days of waiting for spare parts.

Finally, easy to make and cheap flipbooks for dads
I’ve found software that does it, but the idea of printing hundreds of color pages and then stapling was too daunting.
…At $7.95 each, I don’t know if I’d send them to everyone on my holiday list, but they are pretty cool.
If you like to hike in the wilderness, here’s a cool and affordable tracking advice
It also allows you to ping your family to periodically send out an “I’m okay” signal, or alternately, a 911 call…. It’s not a satellite phone so doesn’t come with unaffordable charges — it’s only $99 per year for the service.
I never could do origami, but might find the time to make this cool paper toy with my daughter
Just Piece Of Paper .
Review of Marble Runs
The plastic marble run – Marble Run” (Quercetti Toys) This is a fun set, but requires some skill to balance towers so that as you grow them, they still stand up…. The prices here are far more affordable at $55.00 for this big set, but the toy is a lot more free form (think erector set) and requires more imagination (or dad involvement) to get excitement out of it.
Cool new toys from Apple
Well, I waited 200+ days to see if they would upgrade the memory on the iPhone, but it stays at a measely 8G — just a bit more storage than my first iPod had in 2002…. I’ll have to learn more ab out the new Apple TV, since so far, I can’t see why I’d really need to have one.
For Thomas lovers – new train cake pan
My son has had a love affair with Thomas that now encompasses a Thomas train whistle (throw that away), three different size Thomas trains and track, numerous accessories, puzzles, books, DVDs and even a stuffed Thomas toy. He’s turning 4 in April and says he wants to have a kiting party, but I’m sure if we just stuck five friends in a room with his trains, he’d be just as happy.
Your next office chair – gotta have it
At $289.95, it’s about the same price as a regular chair, but includes speakers built into the headrest, including a 4″ subwoofer to shake you up. On the armrest, there’s a scroll wheel and touch controls.
Valentines Day find – romantic candles that won’t set the house on fire
My recommendation is to buy three these and set them up where they will create a glow on the big night. I doubt they would make a good present – she’ll just think you bought another dumb gadget.
We haven’t tried it yet, but want to.
The Comfy Next Generation Easy PC with Animal World Game” (Imaginative Minds) is a good idea to put little hands on the computer without giving them access to the main keyboard. We found the setup to be easy, though a little bit long. My three-year-old son liked pushing the buttons but didn’t seem to be motivated to stick to any of the games for too long. I couldn’t tell though if was the one that was bored by the level of interaction or if he was into it.
