Study shows role of dad if you are “stressed out” as adult
Comments Off
Small, but conclusive findings show that the dad bond is important in teaching kids how to deal with the little frustrations of the day.
The team found that men who reported poorer relationships with their fathers were 4 percent more likely than other men to report encountering stress during the day. They were also more likely, by an undetermined amount, to develop a bad mood or health problems after encountering daily stress.
The difference may sound small, “but it’s enough to really affect your quality of life,” according to Mallers.

New dad arrested for fondling nurse in delivery room
Another candidate for “Worst Dad of the year,” this guy just couldn’t resist a little tickle of the delivery nurse as his wife was being wheeled into the delivery room. This guy was sentenced to six months in the pokey, and missed out on the delivery as he was hauled away.
The defense attorney claimed his client was prone to blackouts. What man can’t say he isn’t “prone to crazed sex blackouts,” but, really…? Outside the delivery room?! I can safely say that that is one day that most dads have very few, if any, thoughts about sex. And that’s true for even the sexy nurse fantasists among us.

That does it for me: Dad’s harness breaks while parasailing
DAD SAID: ‘IT’S GREAT UP HERE’.. THEN FELL – mirror.co.uk
I just took my daughter parasailing in Hawaii. Several days before, I spent a ton of time researching whether there are ever accidents and if I was the worst dad ever for thinking of taking my nine year old daughter on a ride a couple hundred feet over the Pacific.
The more I read, the better I felt though. Accidents like the one described here, which is about as horrible as they come, appear to now only happen outside the US, where there are few if any controls. I would never think of parasailing in Mexico, for example.
The day of, we spent about two hours waiting for the winds to calm down so we could take our turn....
8 reasons for cloth diapering
Usually, I don’t like to copy/paste reasons for doing anything from a manufacturer. However, these reasons just seem so obvious that they merit posting. More and more parents are turning to cloth diapers for the benefits they provide to their baby and their baby’s environment. Full disclosure, we did NOT cloth-diaper our babies. We bought into the corporate side of the argument and the now-discredited study that showed no environmental difference between cloth diapering and disposable diapers. That might have been a “possible” argument before the advent of new systems that use very thin disposable liners to keep the poop off clothes and the reusable underpants. It’s almost worth...

Warning: new Facebook scams may be bigger lures for parents
I’ve been in the internet for 15 years, worked in data security at Visa, and most recently at Yahoo!, and still I was “phished” by a Yahoo! ID scam a few weeks ago. It was pretty tame stuff. The scammers sent an email with another phishing link to my entire address book, but did not appear to do any other damage before I changed my password.
With all the data we all keep, not to mention the data of our “friends,” it’s best to always stay guarded when tempted to enter your password online.
Here’s the new ones going around, courtesy of Mashable:
The first one contains the message: “OMG!! Guys, you have to see this: This mother went to...
Review: Play-Doh Poppin’ Movie Snacks
The smell of Play-Doh brings me back to when I was about 7 – playing at the table…making sure to make precise cuts with a plastic knife…listening to “Don’t mix the colors – we’ll wind up with nothing but brown!” The joys of childhood in clay form.
Of course, Play-Doh has really reinvented themselves since I was 7 (that’s a harsh thing to write and then realize it’s true). No longer is the spaghetti press the only accessory – now, they have different sets, molds, colors, and anything else you can think of.
I was happy to get the Poppin’ Movie Snacks Play-Doh set. Frankly, I think I’m more excited when we get toys than my children are;...
Review: Penbo
Once in a blue moon, I get a toy to review that is out of this world. I mean, most toys are fantastic because they fulfill a need: learning, mindless entertainment, or a few minutes of distraction to help mommy and daddy take a breather. Penbo is the aforementioned: it is simply fantastic.
First, let’s start out with what a Penbo actually is – Penbo is a robotic penguin which utilizes technology from Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute. That alone should blow you away; I’m only 28 and I was born before Nintendo, far less robotic penguins.
As I’m sure any of my readers realize: I don’t copy and paste – it seems like a shortcut that is devoid of...
Four time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champ Jimmie Johnson is a Dad
Wait until he has to chase a toddler around the living room. That will slow him down.
Four-time and defending NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is now a dad.
A baby girl was delivered to Johnson and wife Chandra Wednesday. Both mother and daughter are doing fine, according to a Hendrick Motorsports spokesperson.

New world record: New Dad at 79
There’s a new kid on the geriatric dads block, and has a new son. He had to beat out a man a year younger and more virile than he was to win the record. At 79, Raymond Calvert, of Winewall, Lancashire England, is the world’s oldest new dad.
I hope I’m still humping like this at 79, though it’s a bit hard to believe that no special drugs were involved, unless you count his 25 year old partner.
Calvert and 25-year-old girlfriend Charlotte became proud parents of tiny Jamie Rai ten weeks ago.
The former shop owner and market trader was 78 when the couple’s 7 pound 1 ounce baby was born.
That easily smashed the record set by previous oldest dad Dennis...
