That made for good reading. The Harry Potter works, and I find that kids nowadays are reading more and more books that are meant for adults (is Harry Potter really a kid's book?) Also look at books like Artemis Fowl and even Eragon. I am not very sure if these are kids' books. We sure didn't have such topics when we were kids.

There are still loads of books though that help the real kids - the preschoolers, I mean, and a little older than that. I am speaking of the personalized books. Yes, give children a fairytale just like that and they will not read it. But give them a fairytale that is personalized in their name and they will be all for it. And these personalized books can be on any subject - their favorite superheroes can be there in them too. This is just a suggestion - I am saying this because when the real fiction world is becoming too gory for the kids, the personalized books are still maintaining their childlike innocence.
