A totally “green” birdhouse made from recycled paper. It is a strong three layer laminate that is totally biodegradable and is designed to last one nesting season. It comes in a very informative packet that gives interesting information about birds, loss of bird habitat, our ecosystem, climate change, and how we can help.
The house is constructed from two pieces of die-cut paper board. It goes together in a matter of minutes, is surprisingly sturdy, and can be decorated or left plain. It is designed to house wrens, titmice and nuthatches. The GreenBird House works on several levels. First it is a fun craft project that Dads and kids can do together. Once complete they can watch as birds move into it and enjoy watching them together for the season. They can merely enjoy having the birds inhabit the house or they can become birders, making records of their activity and noting what other birds come through their backyard.
The GreenBird House is also a great teaching tool. Our hope is that everyone who uses a GreenBird house will become more sensitive to the natural world around them and help the planet by recycling, using sustainable materials, and doing whatever they can to help endangered species - even in their own backyard.
