Family Matters playfully and painlessly facilitates self-expression and encourages collaborative conversation among family members. For the price of a pizza dinner or trip to the movies, Family Matters is a family event that can be enjoyed again and again. One aspect of the game that enables inter-family familiarity and genuine empathy is the “Fake Family Crisis” where players, in character (no one gets to be themselves), work together to resolve a hypothetical situation not one, but three different ways. It’s a rare opportunity to approach an emotionally-charged situation without the emotionality that comes with the real thing and develop an appreciation for other points-of-view.

We found the game to be entertaining if everyone has fun with the questions and group play-acting. All it would take is one skeptic for the game to go sour. It also would be best for families who plan one group activity each weekend and have trouble gaining consensus. This would be fun way of determining a "winner" since winning is a series of fun activities, but "arrival" at the finish line doesn't require any skill.
