I don’t think it’s very dangerous, but it’s a great title…

If you haven’t heard of The Dangerous Book for Boys , you have likely been on a long vacation. It’s gotten a lot of press, due mainly I think to it’s provocative title. It’s a nice big book in a dangerous red color and it’s the type of thing guys like to read, often while taking a break in the bathroom. The book is a compendium of random guy subjects like “essential gear,” “how to make a go kart,” and a long section on secret codes. None of it is new, and most of it has been done before. But maybe that’s the charm. The typeface is old and the hand-drawn illustrations harken back to a childhood none of us has had for quite some time. The Dangerous Book looks like something you’d read under the covers with a flashlight or in a pup tent in your backyard. It’s fun to page through, though don’t expect to use it as much of a reference book. Amazon sells it for $24.95, but you can get it right now at Daedalus.com for only $14.95 in hardback.
