Fathers can help kids prepare for schoolAs September approaches, some kids may feel anxious about starting another year of school and fathers should heed some parenting advice in an effort to help them.

Part of the reason for the anxiety could be the child entering a new situation with other kids they may not know. One way fathers can combat kids' fears is to explain to their son or daughter what the first day of school will entail for them.

"When children know what to expect, they experience less anxiety about a situation," school psychologist Erin L. Enyart told Education.com.

This may be particularly useful if the student is entering middle or high school. Be sure to let them know that everyone feels anxious before the first day of school.

Another way to ease nerves may be to take them to the store for some school supplies. Getting new notebooks, pens and a backpack could lessen the fear and get them excited for the upcoming year.

However, as always, the best way to determine why a child may feel anxious about school is to talk with them and listen to their concerns. According to some parenting advice experts, allowing a child to open up about their fears may be the most beneficial.ADNFCR-1662-ID-19318951-ADNFCR
