Grand Hyatt Kauai - RECOMMENDED: Fantastic vacation spot for families - Top Ten top family resort in US.
Pros:
- Serpentine pool, hundreds of yards long with water slide and four hot tubs.
- Sand-bottomed filtered ocean water pool perfect for walking babies, but also for ocean swimming with no fear of sharks.
Camp Hyatt for kids 3+ with all-day, half-day and evening programs ($70/day).
- Hawaiian babysitting very kid-friendly @$12/hr.
Spectacular grounds and ocean views, numerous shops, restaurants, prime location. Tier 1 Poipu golf course (Robert Trent Jones) on grounds with ocean front holes not to be missed.
Cons:
-
Immense resort, so room may literally be blocks from lobby and pool.
- Much of food lackluster, Tide Pools is best restaurant for steak and fish.
-
Pricey, so hard to justify adjoining rooms at 2X price. Hotel accommodates multiple kids (bed and crib) in room, but makes a vacation very cozy. (I wouldn't recommend the entire family in one room until or unless you can put kids in Camp Hyatt for at least part of the time).
ALOHA!
