The teen years are a special time in your life. Being a new parent is also special. Both come with their own joys and problems.

Being a single teen parent is not easy. In order to give your baby the best, you need a lot of love and support.

Many school districts have special programs to help teen parents. Some have programs for pregnant teens and teen mothers that include child care for babies while the teen mom goes to school. Some larger school districts have programs with flexible hours. These programs make it easier for teen parents to work and still go to school. Call your school district to find out if there is a program near you.

There are reasons why school is important to teen parents. Here are some
of them:

  • You can get a better job if you finish high school. A high school diploma is required for most jobs. A high school diploma is needed if you want to go to college.
  • You will be a good example for your child. You will be able to help her when she goes to school.
  • Ask your school district if it has a special program for teen parents. Ask about how to get your General Equivalency Diploma (GED).

To Nene: If you were really intelligent , you have had the foresight to have him put on a condom or use birth control and thus would not have been pregnant at 16.

So I was raped and got pregnant at 15. I have had support from my parents (thank God) and just finished high school. It was not easy. Not easy at all, I got depressed all the time because of Postpartum depression. I am embarrassed because of what happened. But I love my son dearly. He's the reason I wake up every day and try my best to make life better for both of us. I am now a 17 year old College student/ Teen Mom. I have lifted myself up from ruins and continue to rise. I never look back to that day as a mistake, but as a changing way of life. If I could do it all on my own, So can anyone else. Look for support and take whatever help you can. Its not an easy road up ahead, but if you try hard and never give up, LIfe will reward you Greatly. Take care of the Angel sent to you by God, and Love them every minute of the day. I love my Son dearly. I never, EVER would give up on life, and all because of him

I turned 18 feb 4th and just had my daughter May 11th, she is the most wonderful thing that has ever happend to me yet the hardest. I am still in high school in the ged 02 program which will get me a high school equiv. I have a job at papa johns no liscense no car and no money, I am getting help from the state until I can get on my own two feet, this is the most hardest thing I think I have ever came across I love her so much and I just want the best for her and im struggling afraid of how im going to do this all and do this for her, her father has seen her once since she has been born because his mother came to pick me up and bring me there, and it just kills me because the only thing I wanted for her was to grow up with her father in her life, I dont want her to go through the same things I had gone through I have been through I just want the best n it hard

I am a young black .smart .beautiful .teen parent. I'm 16 years old . I went through a lot in my past teen years . I was wild . silly immature but very mature at the same time . i thought being grown ,hanging out .smoking .drinking and having fun was everything . Until I meet my daughters father . He was the sweetest person , 2 years older .everything a young girl likes .then i got pregnant with my daughter . He only been there 2 months into my pregnancy then .he went to jail . That's when everything hit me . how could i be so stupid to mess up my life .He only saw my daughter one time .she 4 months now . It's hard as hell especially when there's no one to help you .Now my life is about taking care of my daughter and finishing school . It's the biggest mistake i ever made .

I am a young black intelligent teen parent getting ready to graduate. Being a teen parent isn't easy nor being a single mom. I had my baby when i was 16 years old and my boyfriend was 23 years old. at the beginning when i found out I was pregnant I was happy but as the months pasted i was so disappointed. While I was pregnant my boyfriend had told me he would help me do anything for our child because he loved us... As time went by he did okay, but when May 16,2008 had came he was nowhere to be found while ii was into labor. Everysince then he has not done anything for my child but only brought him a box of diapers. i tell people it'll be better if you wait to have children so you can see what you're dealing with thru life....
