Cell phone can enhance relationship with a father and a child

Two-time Olympian figure skater Michael Weiss has found an innovative and technological way to keep in touch with his two young children on the road: cell phones.

Though most fathers may balk at the idea of giving children their own phone, Weiss assured the TimesUnion.com that the cell phones can only call certain people.

"They're only allowed to call their Fave Five list," he said and added that the list includes himself, his wife, their home number and "maybe an aunt or uncle."

Thanks to the cell phones, Weiss is able to call 10-year-old Annie-Mae and 9-year-old Christopher every night to put them to bed.

Weiss is also able to keep track of his children with the phones during their various school activities that include taekwondo, soccer, violin and hockey, according to the article.

Conspicuously absent from the list is ice skating, which wasn't a big deal for the 32-year-old father of two. "I don't necessarily want them to do what I'm doing just because I did it," Weiss told the news provider.
