Not all playground equipment is meant for all children. Different age groups of kids require different norms for safety.

Children less than three years of age have special areas allocated for them. These areas are designed keeping tiny tots in mind. Children less than 5 years old should be strapped into swings to avoid falls. Only children over 6 years of age should be allowed at Jungle gyms that involve climbing. Merry-go-rounds and seesaws are suited for children aged 8 years or older. Younger kids easily lose their balance on such equipment, and therefore need to be watched closely.
