If it’s summer where you are, then people are likely swimming. And wherever there is water, there’s ‘water danger’ for kids. That’s why most parents’ first choice of a class for their kids happens to be basic swimming class. Here are a few common questions and answers for swimming classes.

At what age should my child be ready for swimming class?

You can jump in the pool anytime with your baby in a pool just by yourself or in an organized toddler session. However, to put a child in the pool with just a teacher and other kids, you should wait until the child is 3 years old. Under this age, kids just aren’t ready to take direction and be safe in the water.

If your child is a bit older and hasn’t had much experience in the water or is afraid of the pool, consider taking a class with him or her to build up confidence.

What can I expect in a children's intro swimming class?

A good water-orientation or water-play classes will allow your child to play in the water and get used to the experience with the security of having you close by. You’ll also learn games and songs to play in the water. Most importantly, you’ll learn how to get in and out of the pool with a little child and how to handle your child while in the pool.
