Celebrity father Mark Consuelos admitted in an interview to Newsday that the best gift his children have given him on Father’s Day is ‘peace and quiet.’ A day without bickering and screaming means more to him than any other material gift.
Mark and his spouse Kelly Ripa have extremely busy work schedules, in addition to parenting their three kids - Michael, 12, Lola, 8, and Joaquim, 6. Wife Kelly co-hosts “Live With Regis & Kelly” while Consuelos has two movies coming out this month on The Lifetime Channel. The couple is also currently producing two reality shows for The Lifetime Channel.
Living in Southampton certainly has helped the couple follow parenting tips with ease. They make the most of family time especially during the summer months. Consuelos says, “We turn off the phones and veg out, spend time with the kids, swimming. My daughter rides horses. The boys play tennis and baseball and soccer.” Mark also appreciates the value of having a family dinner. “If you can make time with your kids, it's really, really important. We have dinners together. Every night, the kids know we're going to be sitting down as a family and checking in and seeing how everyone's day went."
For the Consuelos family, Father's Day celebrations extend to the grandparents as well. Both grandfathers receive a card and a phone call each. Mark jokes about Kelly's dad's card, “He'll get one in Spanish. I think it's a good joke for him, because he doesn't speak Spanish.”
As for his own plans this Father’s Day Consuelos says, “I will be out West on our great American minivan vacation. We jump in a minivan, and the five of us go to the Grand Canyon, Sedona, up to Colorado, things like that.”
