Burbank, California, February 20, 2009 – Two proper Englishwomen find romance, hope and renewal in the Italian countryside when Enchanted April makes its highly anticipated DVD debut on May 5, 2009 from Miramax Films. Enchanted April’s breathtaking scenery and charming story make it the perfect movie for anyone who has ever dreamed of an unhurried sojourn in Italy. The DVD includes audio commentary by the director and producer.

Josie Lawrence (Eastenders) and Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) head a stellar ensemble that also includes Joan Plowright (The Spiderwick Chronicles), Polly Walker (Cane), Alfred Molina (Spiderman 2) and Oscar-winner Jim Broadbent (Best Supporting Actor, Iris, 2001). Gorgeous visuals and top-notch acting, directing and writing made Enchanted April an international hit and earned the film three 1992 Oscar nominations including Best Adapted Screenplay for screenwriter Peter Barnes, Best Supporting Actress for Plowright and Best Costume Design for Sheena Napier. In addition, the film received two Golden Globes, one for Richardson (Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical) and one for Plowright (Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role) and was nominated for Best Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical.

In a temporary escape from their drab lives and inattentive husbands, Lottie Wilkins (Josie Lawrence) and Rose Arbuthnot (Miranda Richardson) rent a magnificent villa on the Italian Riviera. To be able to afford a month of this luxury, they must share expenses with two unlikely companions – Mrs. Fisher (Joan Plowright), a crusty widow living in the past and Caroline Dester (Polly Walker), a charming, but bored aristocrat. The mismatched housemates find that the spectacular villa and lush Italian setting hold a special magic that soon sparks friendships and reminds the women of ways to live and love that have long eluded
them. Gorgeously photographed and superbly acted, Enchanted April is like taking a little mini-trip to a sunny Italian paradise.

All-New Bonus Feature
• Feature Commentary with director Mike Newell and producer Ann Scott

Best low cost vacation ideas: research those bed and breakfasts around your area. Sometimes they aren't as expensive as those big hotels...and they are a lot friendlier!

By Lily,   From Las Vegas
The best low-cost vacation idea is to go camping in a park or beach because you get to enjoy nature while saving money.

I have to echo the sentiments of many others and say that the best low-cost vacations usually combine road trips and camping. Luckily almost every state features amazing state park facilities for families, and you don't have to own an RV to enjoy them, and for the especially adventurous, national parks like Yosemite or Yellowstone (where I'm going with my family) are surprisingly affordable and worthwhile. For my money's worth, time spent together bonding in the car and at the campground trumps any expensive luxury trip!

The best, low cost vactation idea is to stay home and explore the opportunities and sites near your house. It will be enjoyable and, of course, its will save hotel costs, gasoline, wear and tear on car and tires, expensive food bills, etc. It doesn't have to be absolute. For example, you can stay at a bed and breakfast or inn near your house. It will be fun and enjoyable while still saving on all the other aspects of a vacation away from home.

By Robert,   From Panama City
The cheapest vacation for our family is visiting family that lives out of state. We make the drive and stop at a few scenic routes and stay at our relatives home. No hotel cost.

By Janice,   From Miami
The best low cost vacation for my family is a beach vacation. We live in Miami so we don't have to travel very far. We can stay at a time share for about 500 a week and cook our own meals. A weeklong vacation can be as little as $700 for a family of 5.

By Barbara,   From New Port Richey

We live near St. Louis with a free zoo, wildlife sanctuary, and fantastic Botanical Garden. The sta-cation is a great alternative to travel (and a huge money-saver).

By Sherri,   From Concord
Our low cost vacations involve road trips to visit distant friends and/or relatives. We try to squeeze in one or two nights in an inexpensive hotel each way, but most of our trips include free accommodations. We also spend months before signing up for newsletters and e-mail clubs for restaurants in the areas we plan to visit so we can eat as inexpensively as possible also.

By Michelle,   From Cleveland
Usually in the winter, we head to the next town over and rent a room at a hotel with an indoor pool. We pack a ton of snacks and order a pizza and rent one of the in-room movies. It's a cheap mini-vacation for us.

I think the best low-cost vacation idea is a Staycation where you stay in the local area but volunteer somewhere - maybe a forest preserve or national park if you like being outdoors and the weather is nice. The kids would have so much fun too!

By Rita,   From Central California
Check out your city's website... you may discover places to visit or tour that you never even thought about. Often times large manufacturers have factory tours and sometimes free samples (depending on what they make). It can be both educational & fun!
