Memory is the best because kids like it and it can be played with a few picture cards or cubes for younger children and a regular deck of cards to make it more challenging for older children. It is also quiet and portable, which makes it good for places like waiting rooms. It can be played by one or more players, and incorporates turn-taking which is a transferable skill. Mainly, it is fun.

I'd have to go with Scrabble, mostly because I'm a big believer in the importance of language skills, and I think even from an early age that the classic crossword game can really help children build their vocabulary and learn the art of the English language.

The best children's game is a large cardboard box or a quilt made into a fort. Anything that encourages the use of their imagination. It is even better if they are doing it outside, since then they are also getting exercise.

I feel the best game to play with children, are the ones that allow imagination to run wild. Usually, it is better to let them pick what the scenario is. If they want to play with a cardboard box and pretend it is a space ship? go for it. I think that allows people to truly understand who they are and what type of personality they will have in the future.

Honestly, I think one of the best 'games' for children is chess! Children can pick up the rudimentary idea of chess at a fairly young age (say 5) and it teaches valuable skills such as patience, problem solving skills, planning, and such. It also stimulates them to think without electronic distractions. My children are decently adept at chess and love it, and are excellent students, too.
