Hotel for Dogs is a good movie for animal-loversRating: PG

Genre: Family comedy

Release Date: January 16, 2008

Running Time: 100 minutes

Child friendly?: This movie was made with the young animal-lover in mind and does not include any swearing, violence or sex that would likely alarm a father. There is some mild flirtation between teenage characters and some kissing.
However, note that the protagonists of the movie are orphans who have some negative experiences with foster care, which may seem scary to kids under the age of 7.

The latest in a recent slew of animal-themed movies, Hotel for Dogs is sure to appeal to any youngster who likes canines.

Andi and Bruce are siblings whose parents have died, leaving them to fend for themselves in foster care. Luckily, they have their beloved pooch Friday by their side.

One adventurous night, the brother and sister happen upon an abandoned hotel, as well as two stray dogs that are living there.

This inspires an idea to gather up all of the stray dogs in the area and give them shelter in the new "hotel for dogs."

They round up a group of kids to help with the animals' care and invent some novel dog-related contraptions, which leads to a barrage of slapstick humor that will delight younger children.

Fathers and other adults may also find some scenes that are worth a chuckle or two, although the believability factor is quite low.

If you are willing to forget the many plot holes, however, this movie could provide some uncomplicated family entertainment.
