When your spouse is pregnant, you should not hesitate to call your doctor or midwife is something is bothering or worrying both of you. Sometimes physical changes can be indicative of a problem.

According to the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, you should call your doctor or midwife immediately if she:

  • is bleeding or leaking fluid from the vagina
  • is having sudden or severe swelling in the face, hands, or fingers
  • is getting severe or long-lasting headaches
  • has discomfort, pain or cramping in the abdomen
  • has a fever or chills
  • is vomiting or has persistent nausea
  • feels discomfort, pain or burning with urination
  • has problems seeing or blurred vision
  • feels dizzy
  • senses a change in your baby's movement
  • suspects the baby is moving less than normally after 28 weeks of pregnancy ( if one counts less than 10 movements in 2 hours or less)
