Here are a few extra tips for dads based on our experience
Be straight with your child – If your child asks about the possibility of a shot, don’t lie about it. Dads have been saying “this is going to hurt me a lot more than it’s going to hurt you,” for years.
Suggest she look away – the sight of a needle, especially a long one, is worse than the sting.
Group shots together – it’s often easy to postpone a shot to have 2 done together rather than associating every doctor’s visit with a shot. You can judge whether this is a better strategy than the trauma of multiple shots.
