On the day of the lemonade stand

  1. Decide in advance how long you’re going to hang out and sell lemonade. Kids do get bored even if there is a lot of action. Make sure they have a plan and stick to it.
  2. Buy cartons of lemonade so you can easily use whatever is unsold.
  3. Make sure your kids understand some basic rules of hygiene and have plenty of clean cups.
  4. Use a thermos with a spigot so they can’t stick their hands in a pitcher full of ice and lemonade.

6-8 year olds will likely need constant supervision. 9 year+ kids may be able to handle the stand while you watch from close by. However, make sure the kids know and understand basic rules of personal safety if they will be interacting alone with adults in front of the house. Don’t be tempted to leave younger ones alone for “just a minute.”
