The most major aspect of being married is to be a sacrificial spouse. The theme of your article seems to be exactly the opposite, saying that husbands should have preconceived notions of hate towards a “chick-flick” and dread the possibility of our wives asking us to take them to see it. If you can’t make a simple sacrifice of seeing a movie that you may not like in order to bring some joy into your wife’s life and to show some vested interest in her, then you are a sad excuse for a man and husband. Would it really be that hard to put your “beer, baseball, and burgers” aside for just barely over two hours to show your wife some love. It’s really no wonder why she spews out the same kind of ignorant dribble about how you sit around all day drinking your “disgusting beer” and watching those “painstakingly boring baseball games” while trying to induce a heart attack by saturating your arteries with “grease drowned burgers”.
“Chick-flicks” are not my favorite genre of movie in the world. But I also don’t like to see my wife upset because I spent all my time drinking and watching sports. I would much rather make a sacrifice, miss a few games here and there, and show some interest in what my wife likes. It really makes a huge difference in a marriage when there is a mutual vested interest in what each other likes. Marriage isn’t about just taking. Marriage isn’t even about give and take. Marriage is about giving and giving and giving some more, and then receiving(not taking) from a happy and satisfied spouse.
I don’t care if you all think I got carried away here. Marriage values in this country have been destroyed so badly that it’s no wonder why more than half of all marriages end in divorce and more than sixty percent of all second marriages end in divorce and so on and so on.
Make some sacrifices guys, it’s what marriage was intended for. Be a real man and husband and show your wife some loving interest and she’ll do the same.
