Fathers looking to do something fun with their kids this July 4th could do worse than taking a trip to the movies to see Hancock.
This is not your typical superhero movie and as such, may not be suitable for young children. There is a fair amount of swearing and violence, as well as adult themes that youngsters may not understand.
However, for those with kids aged 12-plus, this action comedy is a great movie for the family to see. Will Smith is perfect in the title role, playing a disillusioned superhero with a predilection for the bottle who has fallen out of favor with the people of Los Angeles.
After Hancock saves the life of good-natured PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), he decides to try reform the superhero’s image, although his wife, played by Charlize Theron, has some unexplained concerns.
Plenty of comedic moments ensue as Ray tries to spruce up Hancock’s homeless-guy image and they prepare to battle a super-villain – played by Brit actor Eddie Marsan – while the film’s plot twists and turns throughout.
This movie will therefore appeal to both dads and teenage kids, making it the perfect choice for a family trip to the cinema this Independence Day.
