Top 10 Amusement Parks for dads and kids

It’s always time to plan for a trip to an amusement park. If you live in the cold belt, you can plan for a trip to see Mickey Mouse as a getaway. If you live in the South or the West, you’re probably close to a boardwalk or amusement park within a short drive.

Amusemement parks are like baseball parks to some people. They want to see the all the major leaguers and, of course, ride all the roller coasters.

If you’re like most dads, when you were a kid, you thought that once you grew up you’d finally be free to spend all your free time at the amusement park where you go on the bumper cars or the tilt-a-whirl as many times as you want. Of coures, as you get older, that’s less of an all -the-time fantasy (hmmm…wonder what replaced those dreams).  But who says you can’t live your life like Tom Hanks in the movie Big.

Get out the travel guide now and figure out how you can take your kids to visit the top amusement parks in the country and tick them off your big list of things you always wanted to do.

1. Astroland Amusement Park – Brooklyn, N.Y.

You have not lived until you’ve been on this roller coaster.

2. Busch Gardens – Tampa Bay, Fla.

3. Cedar Point Amusement Park – Sandusky, Ohio

4. Disneyland – Anaheim, Calif.

Bring your own food and hold your breath at how commercial it is.  There are still great rides that will always amaze us.

5. Kennywood Park – West Mifflin, Pa.

6. Knott’s Camp Snoopy – Bloomington, Minn.

7. Magic Kingdom – Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

8. Paramount’s Carowinds – Charlotte, N.C.
