Advice for dads to get the most ‘family time’ in

Most parents worry that they don’t have enough time to spend with their children. Between work and other obligations, dads and moms everywhere constantly stress out over whether their kids are getting enough face time with them, let alone enough quality one-on-one time. However, a new survey that finds parents are spending more time than ever with their kids.

The New York Times reports that the amount of childcare time spent by both parents has risen dramatically since the mid-1990s. While moms are still doing the majority of the childcare duties, dads, especially college-educated fathers, are spending more time than ever doing their part.

"It’s taking them to school, helping with homework, bathing them, playing catch with them in the back yard," University of Chicago Booth School of Business economist Erik Hurst told the newspaper. "Those are the activities that have increased over the last 15 to 20 years."

Spending even more time with your kids can be easy. Planning a family game night each week or tackling a household chore or project together can be positive experiences for both kids and parents. Even eating dinner together as a family and committing a few minutes before bedtime each night to talk or read a book together will work.
