Cyber-bullying happens in the real word as well as online, but the internet and social networks can magnify the damage and the hurt. 4 out of 10 kids have been bullied online, and 5 in 10 admit typing mean or hateful things about classmates.
That’s close to half, but according to the Australian Clearinghouse for Youth Studies, the main reason kids don’t report harassment on line, is fear of losing their access to technology. Talking to your children about what can happen online and how to be safe online without banning technology, is one of the most important things you can do to keep them safe online.
