When your parents are gone, you’re an orphan. Spouse dies, you’re a widow or widower. But when you lose your baby there’s no word for that.
I have friends whose baby died a few years ago and I felt badly about not sending a note or a card or something. I then took some solace in the fact that it’s not a Hallmark moment. There are no words to express that kind of grief and sorrow of loosing something so precious as a baby, a baby who won’t have the chance to experience the wonders of this world for the first time.
If you’ve lost a baby, you certainly have my deepest sympathies and condolences but know there are no words.
