By no means do I consider myself to be a “rich dad” as this forum is labeled. But I am a pediatrician in an affluent neighborhood outside Chicago so I do well for myself, thankfully. However, I never handed out money to my children without teaching them the value behind it. I started by giving them an allowance at a young age so they could see what a dollar could buy them. They received the allowance by doing chores around the house. Each chore had a certain dollar value. Developing a healthy and strong work ethic at a young age is important. I believe it is hard to break the habit of being lazy when children are older.
