Finally, easy to make and cheap flipbooks for dads

I’ve been looking for a source of cheap flipbooks as a unique way to send holiday cards or announements. I’ve found software that does it, but the idea of printing hundreds of color pages and then stapling was too daunting. Flipbooks are just plain cool. They are high on technology, but low on electricity. And, in a world of more iPod gadgets, they have a nostalgic charm.

Motionbox.com, which appears to be more about video storage, has a product called MotionBooks. It makes color flipbooks, the “original handheld video player,” as they say, out of 15 second video clips. You upload a video, and they send you a book with a personalized cover. At $7.95 each, I don’t know if I’d send them to everyone on my holiday list, but they are pretty cool.

Let me know if you’ve used this or know any other services that make flipbooks.
