Many research studies have been devoted to finding out how working mothers balance parenting skills with a career – but what about dads?
Now, a new poll commissioned by the Rockefeller Family Fund reveals that more than seven out of ten working fathers say they worry about balancing work and family responsibilities on a daily basis.
This was nearly the same number of male respondents who said they worry every day about the economy.
Around 63 percent of respondents of both genders said they would support a political candidate that would prioritize work/family issues such as healthcare, paid sick time and fair pay.
Lisa Guide of the Rockefeller Family Fund said the findings demonstrate that contemporary men are invested in family life.
"This poll clearly shows that work and family balance is not just a concern for American working women, but one of the biggest daily problems for America’s working families in general," she commented.
The Obama/Biden platform included ideas for expanding the Family Medical Leave Act, helping low-income families pay for child care, funding after-school programs and promoting flexible working.
