New world record: New Dad at 79

There’s a new kid on the geriatric dads block, and has a new son. He had to beat out a man a year younger and more virile than he was to win the record. At 79, Raymond Calvert, of Winewall, Lancashire England, is the world’s oldest new dad.

I hope I’m still humping like this at 79, though it’s a bit hard to believe that no special drugs were involved, unless you count his 25 year old partner.

Calvert and 25-year-old girlfriend Charlotte became proud parents of tiny Jamie Rai ten weeks ago.

The former shop owner and market trader was 78 when the couple’s 7 pound 1 ounce baby was born.

That easily smashed the record set by previous oldest dad Dennis Ealam, who was 76 when his wife Cora gave birth to daughter Jessie in Lincoln last December.

“I am the most fortunate man in the world,” Calvert said. “The baby was planned and I did not use Viagra or anything like that.”

The oldest birth mother record-holder, per Wikipedia, is a new mom in India who had twins at age 70, in late 2008.
