Cloth diapers can help fathers save money

While embracing a new son or daughter can be an exciting time, fathers may want to utilize their money-saving parenting skills in an effort to keep their family budget from busting at the seams.

One way to do this, and it may be a surprise to some new fathers, is to use reusable cloth diapers instead of typical one-use diapers.

Some have estimated that an average baby goes through approximately 5,840 diapers in their first two years, which can add up significantly in cost. By using cloth diapers, fathers can save money and use the savings for either dental checkups or clothing for their new baby.

The Real Diaper Association estimates that most diapers cost 25.5 cents each, which adds up to about $1,500 for the first two years of a child's life. And this is only assuming that your child is potty trained by age 2.

But there's another reason to embrace the washable cloth diapers - they are good for the environment.

The Environmental Protection Agency says that 95 percent of disposed baby diapers end up in landfills and make up approximately 3.4 million tons of waste. ADNFCR-1662-ID-19277703-ADNFCR
