Positive Intelligence with Mazen Edlibi

June 3, 2025 by Paul Banas

In this episode, guest Mazen Edlibi delve into the transformative world of group therapy, coaching, and the profound impact of Positive Intelligence (PQ) on our lives. Join us in this journey towards greater awareness, happiness, and understanding of how your mind works.

In this episode, you will be able to:

  1. Discover how the Positive Intelligence framework aids coaches in holding more impactful coaching sessions.
  2. Learn the role of PQ assessments in personal and professional development through Mazen’s approach.
  3. Explore the dual nature of saboteurs and strategies for balanced use to avoid self-sabotage.
  4. Hear Mazen Edlibi’s personal journey to finding his life purpose and how it shapes his coaching.
  5. Participate in a mindfulness exercise designed to calm the mind and promote positive thinking.

It’s not every day that you meet someone who radiates profound wisdom and genuine intent to drive positive change, so when I sat down with Mazen Edlibi on the Great Dad Talks podcast, I knew we were in for an invigorating conversation that could shape how we approach fatherhood, coaching, and personal growth.

A Breath of Fresh Awareness

One of the remarkable moments during our discussion was when Mazen shared a simple, yet powerful exercise to control the mind:

“Inhale deeply, be mindful of your bodily sensations, and as you slowly exhale, rub your hands together,” Mazen instructed. “This is how you bring yourself to the present moment.”

He believes in the power of these practices to shift our experiences and take our minds away from the often-noisy intellectual chatter. “It’s about being here and now,” Mazen said, “aligning with the flow of life.”

The Journey with Positive Intelligence

As a certified Positive Intelligence coach, I value structured, yet emotionally resonant, approaches to personal development. Mazen subscribes to this philosophy as well:

“The PQ assessment helps you to understand where you stand and what challenges you may face,” he shared.

Mazen emphasized the role personal stories play in connecting with the assessment results, making the entire coaching experience profoundly relatable.

Saboteurs: Helpers or Hindrances?

Talking about saboteurs, those mental patterns that can either serve us or derail us, was enlightening:

“Saboteurs have positive qualities, but when they go into hyperdrive, they can be quite destructive,” Mazen pointed out.

He advises to always ask yourself if they’re adding value or if there’s abuse at play. It’s a delicate balance, focused on whether they’re draining or fulfilling you in the long-term.

Empowerment in Coaching

Mazen’s work, especially with women leaders, is a testament to the potential of coaching in finding life’s purpose:

“I help empower women to align with their life purpose,” he explained. “It’s not just about the career ladder but being true to one’s values and strengths.”

Key Advice From Mazen Edlibi:

  • Harness Awareness: Practice mindfulness to remain grounded in challenging situations.
  • Intercept Saboteurs: Learn to identify and manage the saboteurs for a more positive inner dialogue.
  • Embrace Simplicity: Don’t overcomplicate the journey to self-improvement—it can be as straightforward as consistent, mindful practice.
  • Build Community: Support from a group can intensify and ground the coaching experience, fostering growth.

As Mazen and I exchanged farewells, the resonance of our conversation lingered—a reminder that the journey of coaching and personal evolution is ongoing and universally relevant.

And for all the dads out there seeking to navigate the complexities of fatherhood and personal aspirations, consider integrating these practices into your life. The effect can be tremendously positive, not only for ourselves but also for the loved ones we guide and nurture every day.
