Is being a single dad destroying your dating life?

Single fatherhood is full of rewards and challenges, but it's a rare man who's content to do it all alone. Most of us are looking for a companion, a woman who will stick by our side – and our kids' sides – for the rest of our life.

While there are some women who will bolt the moment they find out you're a dad, a lot of gals will be eager to stick around – and some will even want to meet the family.

If you do want to invite your new woman to meet your family, remember to take it slow. Make sure you're confident that this is a woman you expect to be in your children's lives for some time before you introduce her to them. Bringing home a stream of new women can be confusing and distressful to them.

"It is important to not introduce your kids to every person you go on two or three dates with," Deborah Roth Ledley, a licensed psychologist, explained on CNN.com. "Many kids form attachments very easily. When kids are introduced to someone 'special,' they assume it actually means something and then if the person disappears, this shifts their whole belief system."

Before you introduce your new partner to your kids, make sure that you're both on the same page about the commitment that you're making to each other, as well as your eventual plans for the future.
