The tech company offers its online customers a section of its store with refurbished Apple products, which means they are sold at a discounted price. So that 8gig iPod touch that was going for $229? Fathers can now wow their kids with one selling for $179.

While it may be true that online users can find a cheaper price than that on Craigslist or eBay, there is an advantage to buying the iPod directly from the Apple store.

Though these iPods have been returned, the company says they are put through hardware and software tests, as well as given their own serial number. The device is also given the same Apple product guarantee as a new iPod.

Fathers who still worry about receiving a faulty product can rest assured. Apple allows customers to return a refurbished iPod to the physical store if it broken upon delivery.

Buying a refurbished product may also give fathers an opportunity to use their parenting skills to teach their children that sometimes used can be just as good as new.
