It’s still Skin Cancer Awareness Month.
In the interest of everyone getting this message over and over, here is advice from the Skin Cancer Foundation. This is important to read for several reasons. First, we all played in the sun and many of us were repeatedly burnt. It didn’t seem like more than an irritation at the time, but now skin cancers are far more prevalent as a lifetime of bad sun exposure leaves its mark. Second, the sun is just stronger than it was a generation ago. We need to protect our kids more than ever and that means forcing them to wear hats, rash guards, and plenty of sunscreen even for short trips in the sun, and especially on grey days when they think they are safest.
Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer with over 3.5 million cases diagnosed annually. Luckily, it’s also one of the most treatable cancers, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to be worried about preventing it.
