Back to School Awards for Products That Involve Dads With Kids

Here is a copy of the press release that appears on prweb.com:

San Francisco, California (PRWEB) September 13, 2011 — Mr. Dad and GreatDad.com announce Seal of Approval winners for Back to School 2011. The modern dad is involved in every aspect of parenting and some products just seem developed with the dad style of parenting in mind.
The Mr. Dad Seal of Approval and GreatDad.com Recommends awards identify products that promote interaction between dads and kids. Mr. Dad and GreatDad have awarded the seals to products from small companies as well from some of the world’s biggest brands including Lego, Haba USA, and Nintendo. The combined awards recognize companies whose products and services help strengthen and empower families, and help fathers create memorable, enriching experiences with their children.
“Our goal is to find toys and gear that will motivate dad to get down on the floor and play with his baby or child. In some cases, these are products that make dad’s job easier. We want to identify products that dads can enjoy with their child, as well as recognize companies that go above and beyond in creating products and services that help fathers become better parents and improve the father-child bond,” said Paul Banas of GreatDad.com.
“While moms still make most buying decisions around babies and kids, moms and dads more than ever want products that appeal to both sexes. Dad shouldn’t be turned off by gear that is clearly only meant for mom. It’s more important than ever to recognize and champion products and services that promote positive parenting and demonstrate a commitment to helping fathers become the parents they want to be,” adds Armin Brott. Brott is founder of MrDad.com and author of eight best-selling books on fatherhood, including the recently released third edition of The Expectant Father: Fact, Tips and Advice for Dads-to-Be.
A panel of dad experts judged products or services based on whether the products:
  • Improve the quality of father-child time
  • Improve father child relationships
  • Help dads be better parents and partners
This season’s awards recipients are:
Elementary School
  • Fruitominoes
  • Dollie & Me
  • nanoblock micro sized building blocks
  • Rollors
Tweens and Teens
  • Air Picks
  • Finger Football
Family Wii game
  • Nintendo Wii Play Motion
The Mr.Dad Seal of Approval and GreatDad Recommends awards were launched to recognize deserving products and services that give fathers the resources, tools and information they need to parent effectively and enrich the lives of their children. Awarded quarterly, the seal is widely recognized and valued by consumers and provides an opportunity for increased brand recognition and credibility for companies.
For more information about products that have received the Mr. Dad Seal of Approval and GreatDad Recommends Award, go to GreatDad.com/RecommendsWinners. To see program criteria and submit an application, visit GreatDad.com/recommends. The deadline for the 2011 Holidays awards is November 11, 2011.

Great Dad Talks

Great Dad Talks is a series of conversations with experts on all aspects of the family adventure. With the perspective that “dads don’t always think like moms,” our mission is to support dad voices and our slightly different approaches to parenting. We’ll try to find solutions to every day challenges like getting kids off the couch and making STEM classes available for both boys and girls. But we’ll also tackle bigger issues when they come. The one main theme will be to support dads in the most important role of their lives that of being a great dad.
