The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning

August 1, 2008 by GreatDad Writers 146 Comments

Audiences are familiar with the enchanted underwater world of Ariel, King Triton, Sebastian, and Flounder. But life in the deep sea kingdom of Atlantica wasn’t always concerts and melodies. It’s all explained in The Little Mermaid: Ariel’s Beginning.

It’s the story of a younger Ariel in a time when music was banned from the kingdom. Reprising their roles as Ariel and Sebastian, vocal talents Jodi Benson and Samuel E. Wright create a new spellbinding chapter in this Disney princess’ saga. With new fishy friends and foes, and bubbling up with new beats, this prequel splashes onto DVD August 26th!

won this in August and immediately sent my address when I received the win notice. I purposely did not buy this for my daughter as I had won this. It has been 2 months and when I sent an email nicely asking about when I might receive it I never received a reply.

I think my dad is the best dad you could ever have. He never fails to amaze me. He raised myself and my two sisters all by himself and did it with such style, grace and a wonderful sense of humor. I think now of all the embarassing questions and situations he was put through with three girls and yet besides turning red he never failed to answer them. He was always there to listen to our heartbreaks and he really did listen. He wiped away tears from our skinned knees and skinned hearts. He helped us to believe in ourselves and and never doubt that we were just as good as everyone else. He also taught us to appreciate what we had instead of worrying about what others had and we did not. Today we are all grown up and know that we are who we are today because of him. He has Macular Degeneration and cannot see anymore yet when we are with him he still sees our heart and souls. He is the best mom and dad I could have ever asked for.

Character – Dr. Huxtable from the Cosby show. Very wise.

Real life celebrity – Kirk Cameron. 6 Kids, been married 17 years, pretty good accomplishment to me.

I also think that Ward Cleaver was the ultimate t.v. dad. He had to put up with a lot with Wally, the Beave and Eddie Haskell.

Great Dad Talks
Great Dad Talks

Great Dad Talks is a series of conversations with experts on all aspects of the family adventure. With the perspective that “dads don’t always think like moms,” our mission is to support dad voices and our slightly different approaches to parenting. We’ll try to find solutions to every day challenges like getting kids off the couch and making STEM classes available for both boys and girls. But we’ll also tackle bigger issues when they come. The one main theme will be to support dads in the most important role of their lives that of being a great dad.
