Set to explode on screens this Fourth of July, Michael Bay’s “Transformers” has fans already waiting in anticipation. Based on the 80’s hit cartoon series, the movie introduces the ‘robots in disguise’ to a whole new generation.

The movie is a new take on the Generation One Transformers cartoon story line. Keeping true to the original, the movie focuses on two warring alien robot races, the good Autobots and the evil Decepticons. These robots have the unique characteristic of being able to transform from robotic shape into every day automobiles. Stranded on earth, these robots live amongst us waiting for the right time to strike.

The robots bring their intergalactic battle to earth leaving a wake of destruction in their path. The Autobots find a friend in Sam Witwicky (played by Shia La Beouf) who unknowingly purchases an Autobot as his first car from a used car lot. What ensues is the ride of Sam’s life putting him in the driver’s seat as he witnesses a robotic battle of epic proportions. The Autobots try to defend the earth from the evil exploits of the Decepticons who start to attack American army bases and wreck havoc on the general population as well.

Michael Bay brings his fast paced action movie skills to bear on this movie. The movie is packed with car chases and battles in

true Michael Bay style, leaving the viewer glued to his seat. Young dads who grew up watching Transformers may enjoy reliving the experience by taking their kids for this movie. They will be amazed to see their 2D heroes brought to life in a full-blown live action movie.  For kids, the this next generation of Transformers is set to thrill as much as their cartoon predecessors did.

Dad tip:  Even if you don’t make it to this movie, watch out for requests for Transformer toys based on the movie, which will be hitting toy shelves soon.
