Playing with your eight month old baby

At eight months of age, your baby is old enough to communicate
and interact with you in many different and interesting ways. This is a good time to start
developing a close bond with your baby. The best way to do this is to take every opportunity you can
to play with your baby. Playtime can be fun for both, parents as well as babies, and offers great
possibilities for stimulating your baby’s physical and mental growth.

You can play a
variety of games. Identify the kind of games your baby loves to play the most. You can then select
the activities that are most likely to be enjoyed by both of you.

These are among the
activities that are most popular with infants:

• Peek-a-boo: This an all time favorite with
  babies around eight months of age. Playing peek-a-boo will help your baby understand that you may be
  still be around even when you are not in sight.
• Creating sound: Eight-month-old babies are
  keen listeners and love to explore the relationship between sounds and objects. Bells, drums, and
  things that go buzz and trrring immediately grab their attention. Exploring new ways to create
  sounds out of falling blocks, rolling cylindrical objects, and spinning wheels are sure to keep them
  engrossed for a long time.
