Best Valentine’s Day Gift was a day trip to the Oregon Coast spent with my sons at different points along the coast, whale watching, spotting seals, having a really fresh seafood dinner on the shoreline and watching the sunset as the day came to close. Those are the moments that filled a day of love for me from my kids.

The best Valentine’s Day gift I ever received was this past Valentine’s Day! My daughter and wife made me a batch of red velvet (yum! my absolute favorite!) cupcakes and hand-delivered them to my office; along with a Valentine’s Day card hand-written by the both of them! Also, my six year-old daughter, gave me her best five-minute rendition of Whitney Houston’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ in front of all my co-workers! It was the ‘sweetest thing’ I’ve ever witnessed!

Thanks for the ‘great’ giveaway offering and good luck to all!

It is not that I am not proud of serving my country but I missed being out of the country so much and missing so much of the milestones of my children’s lives.

My BEST Valentine’s day gift was the day I was stuck at work and my beloved boyfriend showed up and told me he had a surprise for me! Well, he told me it was in his pocket (so I’m thinking one item, right? lol)… he then proceeds to give me, one after one, from all these different pockets, a stunning piece of vintage jewelry which he knew I was absolutely nuts for! It was so thoughtful and fun and truly touching because he knows I am frugal and do not advocate waste, and I would much rather have a gorgeous piece of something old and used with a history behind it – rather than a flashy expensive bauble fresh from an overpriced retailer. I guess what made it so special was that it was sweet, touching and showed that he truly was aware of what made ME happy! Now, 8 years later we are still a content, happy couple 🙂

My best Valentine’s day present was a cleaned house. Upon returning from work, I found the entire house cleaned, laundry done, and dinner ready. Hubby had had the day off and did it all.

Every year my wife buys me a box of dark chocolate raspberry jellies from our hometown candy shop. I could buy them myself but somehow they taste better knowing she bought them for me

Professional art supplies (specifically, my prismacolor colored pencils). He knows how much I enjoy sketching and normally used crayola until I got my present. Now, I don’t know what I would have done without them.

Great Dad Talks is a series of conversations with experts on all aspects of the family adventure. The one main theme will be to support dads in the most important role of their lives that of being a great dad.
