Schools to find newer ways to identify learning disability

According to US federal law, schools could only identify children as learning disabled by comparing their scores on intelligence tests with their academic achievement. This meant that many students could not avail of special education help until third or fourth grade. Now the Education Department has issued regulations to allow school districts to find alternative ways to identify students who need extra help. Click here to read more.
