A Dana Point entrepreneur has designed and created a new line of children’s themed bedding, clothing, books and crib sets based upon his pre school-aged son’s drawings of stick figures. “I saw my son and his friend’s drawing, or doodling really, and it seemed like a fun theme for kids,” says founder and parent of two Doug Smith. With this young minded inspiration, “The Sticklers” were born.
The Sticklers currently have three designs out now, and more in the works. “I started with race cars, and firefighters because those were the most natural for boys, the surfing design came out of my own passion for the beach,” says designer Doug Smith, “Kids really relate to this kind of home furnishings because it looks as if they had a hand in drawing it, rather than a movie of the month licensed product.” The Sticklers youthful designs will liven up any young child’s room, and let their imagination be the focal point of their bedroom.
The Sticklers have brought to life the characters used in the drawings, having assigned names and professions to each theme. Speedy Stickler is the professional race car driver in the Stickler family and has a whole informative storyline based upon this occupation, that is also available in a fun to read children’s book.
